Ingrowns are the worst part of getting that smooth skin. Here's the exact aftercare routine I give my clients at the studio to stay bump-free.
After waxing, hair grows back softer and finer. When dead skin builds up, that new hair can get trapped under the surface instead of growing out. That's what causes those painful bumps.
1. DON'T touch for 24-48 hours
No gym, no hot baths, no tanning, and no tight leggings. Let those open follicles calm down. This is when you're most likely to get irritation.
2. Start exfoliating on Day 3
Not day 1! Wait 72 hours, then gently exfoliate 2-3x a week. My favorite is a chemical exfoliant with glycolic or salicylic acid —DR. BUMP INGROWN HAIR PADS

3. Moisturize every single day
Hydrated skin = hair can break through easier. Look for something fragrance-free with aloe or hyaluronic acid. Dry skin traps hairs.

- Don't pick or tweeze ingrowns — you'll scar
- Don't use heavy oils or coconut oil right after
- Don't shave between waxes — it undoes all your progress
My Go-To Aftercare Routine at Alysha Aesthetics:
I recommend all my clients grab a gentle exfoliant and a light daily moisturizer. If you're prone to ingrowns, ask me about it at your next appointment, and I'll match you with the right product for your skin type.
